[Imperial] India Pale Ale

Der Ursprung der India Pale Ales, heutzutage fast nur noch als IPA bezeichnet, liegt in Großbritannien. Seinerzeit wurde dem Bier für die in Indien stationierten Briten sehr viel Hopfen beigegeben, sodass es die lange Überfahrt übersteht.
IPAs sind gold- bis kupferfarben und haben meist eine geschmacklich untergeordnete Malzigkeit. Der Hopfen spielt hier eigentlich immer eine sehr große Rolle.
